I have been training with Mr. Alvarez for almost a year now and my game has improved tremendously. I have really connected with him and his teaching methods. His instruction is detailed yet simple for everyone to understand. In a short time he has created a great training atmosphere. Whether you are a beginner or advanced bjj player, Alvarez bjj is a great place to train. I look forward to getting my black belt under Mr. Alvarez.

I just have to say that I love the classes they are very convenient for the working person day and night. The training is phenomenal. It’s an awesome way to loose weight and gain endurance. Our instructor, Danny, does a great job of conducting his class and training. His knowledge of the art is great. All it takes is dedication and heart to put in the work. I give the class a 10, 10 being great.
Thanks Danny,
GOD BLESS!

I have been training martial arts proactively since the age of 7.  Having trained at other schools in which the prices soared through the roof and the amount of time allowed on the mat after class always seemed limited at best, I am proud to call Alvarez BJJ my home.

The quality of instruction here is superb and the environment in which we are learning is both a friendly and effective one - we take ultimate concern in protecting our training partner's health/well-being.  On any normal night we work through our hour and a half long class, then are welcomed to spend as much extra time on the mat as is desired.  Most nights, the general group of regulars doesn't leave until closer to 10 p.m.

Mr. Alvarez is extremely dedicated to helping your skill sets grow.  He is also a big advocate of living a healthy life style.  My entire diet and mindset over training has changed under his instruction.  I have developed many great friendships in my year and a half at the academy.  I have competed in several tournaments across Texas and won and I have realized long term goals/dreams that otherwise would have not been possible.  As one of Mr. Alvarez' first students, I would highly recommend that you come in and give our school a try.  You will be welcomed into a humble atmosphere with top quality training on all levels and you will not regret the time spent.

I've been training Brazilian Jiu jitsu just under 4 years and have had the opportunity to train in several different schools to include Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Not only is Mr. Alvarez a very disciplined and high caliber BJJ competitor, but his passion for teaching, and attentiveness to his students rival the best out there.

My name is Scott de la Rosa, I currently hold the rank of  Blue Belt. I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past two years in Las Vegas, NV. I just recently moved to Arlington, TX in May. I must admit finding a new Jiu-Jitsu school to train was really tough, but I am proud to say that I chose Danny Alvarez school. From the moment I walked into the school, I new this was my new home. The space is very big and everyone is warm and welcoming to train. Danny really opens your eyes to making you a better Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. He promotes good hard training and healthy living in your everyday life. His facilities really competes with a lot or even better than some of the local Jiu-Jitsu schools. There is plenty of mat training when it comes to rolling with other students. Everyone trains almost past the allotted time that the websites states and we train almost until 10pm. Danny Alvarez really encourages you to be the best and if your not, don’t worry he will help you achieve that goal.

Hello everyone,

My name is Javier, I just wanted to share with everyone my experience at Alvarez Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. I work in the Loss Prevention field and with my current employer I don't really have a set work schedule. With the many class schedules Mr. Alvarez offers, I am able to make it to class at least twice a week. Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers so many different things it is hard to just speak on one particular topic.  The training is second to none, the team atmosphere is like none other that I have ever been part of and I have played team sports since I was a child. It is such a family feeling here, two of my sons have since joined and are training along side of me. I enjoy Mr. Alvarez' focus and the focus of the Academy. There isn't a feeling of pressure when you are here, as I said, it is a family feeling atmosphere, where everyone helps everyone. Before joining Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I looked around at other schools and never found that kind environment and was skeptical about joining any establishment I had reservations about. But when found Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, I immediately could see the difference in this school from the others. It has been a great experience being here, not only for myself but my entire family.

Mr. Javier Rocha

I have been practicing martial arts steadily since I was eleven years old. During my years of training, I have seen and attended many different academies that focus on specific disciplines. As a former martial arts instructor, I was very particular as to what school I chose to attend. After having participated in many classes focusing on MMA, Judo, Tae kwon do, kickboxing and jiu jitsu, I have developed a very broad basis of comparison for martial arts instructors. Mr. Alvarez is model instructor. His focus on health, nutrition, good instruction and hard training not only enhances one’s grappling game, but also develops a great training regimen for all competitive martial artists.

Since I have been training at Alvarez BJJ, people that I have trained with have been noticing the big improvements in my grappling skills and physical conditioning. The positive atmosphere in the academy allows for everyone to work and enhance their jiu jitsu without having to worry about big egos or careless training partners. Mr. Alvarez provides plenty of open mat time after class for those who want to put their skills to the test with other students or work technique.  Alvarez BJJ is the perfect academy for anyone looking for a physical form of self improvement.

My name is Nikki Crane and I am a mother of 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. We were looking for something to get the boys involved in as an extra-curricular activity. In the beginning we put my two oldest boys and my oldest daughter. Now all of my children are very active in Jiu-Jitsu and truly enjoy it. We really welcomed the family environment that Danny provided in his gym. The warm atmosphere makes it easy to commit to a sport like BJJ and it is taught by a wonderful instructor. Danny Alvarez’s school is our second home. As a family in our school, the adults and children proudly cheer each other on. I would have to say that Danny has a wonderful way to connect and teach children BJJ.

We have 2 children, a daughter age 6 and a son age 7, enrolled at Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Mr. Alvarez is very patient and hands-on.  He works well with children, and they respond positively to his direction.  The environment which he creates in his gym is clean, friendly, and conducive to learning.  Our children have been involved in martial arts for nearly 2 years, and even though there are closer places for them to train, we believe that Mr. Alvarez is special.  His dedication to the art of BJJ and his desire to teach others what he has learned are some of the reasons why we drive 30 miles each way to attend his classes.  Since our children have been enrolled in Alvarez BJJ, we have seen an improvement in their self-confidence and self-discipline.  Our children have also competed in several area tournaments.  Mr. Alvarez is always there and supportive of every teammate competing.  For anyone interested in BJJ, no matter what their age is, we highly recommend Danny Alvarez.

Mr. John Powell & Dr. Laurel Powell

I enrolled my son Blake age 9 in Alvarez Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to help him with his self confidence and communication skills with other kids. He has been in the class for a little over 6 months and I have seen huge difference in him. He is more out going and confident, he has made a lot of friends inside and outside of the class.  I have also seen changes in strength and size. Mr. Alvarez doesn’t only train the kids in Jiu-Jitsu he also teaches them good eating habits and self discipline.

Taking him to class also sparked an interest in me, I have recently enrolled in the class to help my son train at home and to give us a common interest and it has brought us closer then ever. For my self since I have been training I have lost 20 lbs and I’m more energetic and feel better than I have in long time. The thing like the best about the school is the other students in both the kids and adults classes not concerned about winning or losing while there training but teaching and learning. For the most part if some is more experienced than you they are more likely to explain what you’re doing wrong than to put you down for losing. I’m glad I called Alvarez BJJ and my son and I look forward to training with Danny for many years to come.

Mr. Blake & David Cruz

I started training at Alvarez BJJ in May of 2009, just a couple weeks before I turned 21.  I had never done any form of martial arts before, so I had no idea if I would like Jiu-Jitsu or what to expect.  But right away I felt welcome and comfortable in the gym, like I had always been a student there.  Everyone is very friendly, and offers help one another whenever they need it.  Jiu-Jitsu is not only a ton of fun, but it is a great work out and teaches self-defense to people of any age or size.  Our instructor, Danny, is an awesome teacher.  He is patient and explains things clearly, which makes learning much easier.  But more importantly, you can tell he supports and cares a lot about his students. I am very glad I came to Alvarez BJJ.  I really wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

I stumbled upon Mr. Alvarez’s school while competing at a tournament in Haltom City. His student’s skills and his personal devotion to each of his students immediately caught my eye.  A few months later I enrolled onto his school and have been there ever since with no regret. Mr. Alvarez takes the time to answer any questions one may have no matter how absurd it may be. His instructions and demonstrations are impeccable. Mr. Alvarez’s gym houses students of all skill levels, but by no means should this be intimidating. The students are eager to help and understand each others limits. Mr. Alvarez makes sure that students not just understand the techniques, but also takes the time to demonstrate how and why they work and also how to incorporate them in a match. He teaches the importance of sportsmanship and does not tolerate inappropriate behavior. I have trained for many tournaments while at his school and not once have I entered a tournament doubting myself. He makes sure everyone is ready both mentally and physically to compete for any sort of completion no matter the level of competition or one’s skill level. I have also had the opportunity to travel with Mr. Alvarez to an out of state tournament and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with his skills, understanding of the game, and most of all his love for the sport. Mr. Alvarez is not a BJJ/grappling professor, but to a certain degree he teaches his students, dedication, sportsmanship, goal setting, and life.

I had dabbled in getting into Jiu-Jitsu on and off over the past few years but never quite found a home that made me feel comfortable and really allowed me to grow.  From the day I stepped foot on the mat at Alvarez BJJ I felt comfortable and the higher ranking guys stepped right in to work with me and help improve my game.  Danny really genuinely cares about his students well being both mentally and physically and it's easy to see when you show up to class day in and day out.  Danny challenges me every time I come in to push myself and I have realized I am able to push my body and mind further then I thought possible to help achieve my goals in class and in my life.  I would recommend this academy to anyone who is looking to get involved in BJJ and wants to challenge their body and mind to push themselves to a new level.

Nathan Hallford

I am a 35 year old, relatively un-athletic guy who needed something to get back into shape.  I have been a fan of the martial arts for years and I currently have a purple belt in taekwondo.  I wanted to try something new so I decided to visit Alvarez BJJ.  I immediately noticed the laid-back atmosphere in the school.  Mr. Alvarez has a teaching style that works well with both children and adults.  He is patient and seems sincerely interested in each and every student on the mat--no matter their level of skill.  Another thing that makes Alvarez BJJ a really great place to train are the students.  Everyone there wants to help you get better.  There are no egos.  Nobody is there to hurt their training partners.  I highly recommend Alvarez BJJ for anyone looking to get back in shape and learn a little bit in the process.

I wanted to take this time to tell you how much our family enjoys and appreciates your BJJ school!
Our son, Taylor, joined your school last year after spending several months at another BJJ school. Getting into BJJ was new to us and we had no idea what to expect.

After attending the other school for several months we began to feel Taylor was missing out. Although we weren't quite sure what that was, we did know there was only 1 other child in the program and the instructor began to constantly leave the class in charge by teenagers. There were no values instilled and no push to always be your best (at everything).

After finding your school and attending just the first class, we were blown away by what you and your school offer! We quickly realized what Taylor had been missing for months. He was missing out on a class full of other kids his age and size to practice with. He didn't have an instructor who gave full attention to his students, and most importantly he was not being taught BJJ values and morals that carry into his day to day life. All of these can be found at Alvarez BJJ.

Thank you so much for your attentiveness and support for our son! Your commitment to BJJ, your school, and your students is evident at every class.

THANK YOU,

Christine & Michael Parks

Mr. Alvarez,
I just wanted to send my thanks to you again for all that you have taught Taylor. I don't know if you noticed that he had to fight back tears yesterday when he was presented that sword on the mat for Gi. For a 10 year old to have tears of happiness is just amazing to me. I have never seen a kid cry because he is so happy.  It shows just how much he wanted that sword and how hard he has worked for it. Taylor would not be the BJJ fighter he is without having you! You have taught him so much more than we ever had hoped for. And even more, you have taught him a love for the sport itself and have helped him become an even better well rounded individual in his daily life.  I truly appreciate all that you give to Taylor, all the other kids, and your school. Taylor thoroughly enjoys coming to class and representing Team Alvarez out on the mat.

Thank you so much!

Christine
