The Leticia Ribeiro 3 Day Women’s Jiu Jitsu Camp Arlington TX was a huge success with girls and ladies that traveled from all over Texas, Oklahoma and even Puerto Rico to learn from 3 World Champions. The camp was held at Alvarez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Arlington TX and started Friday June 29 – Sunday July 1st 2012. Friday began with Leticia Ribeiro doing one hour private lessons starting at 12:30 all the way to 6:30pm. Danielle Alvarez training out of Alvarez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Arlington TX was lucky enough to get 3 private lessons in that day. Danielle got a hour private lesson with Leticia Ribeiro, then a hour private lesson with Beatriz Mesquita and a semi private lesson with her team mate Natalia Shepler and Leticia Ribeiro all before the camp started at 7pm.  The camp started off with a lot Passing the Guard techniques and drills then ended with more specific drills training with over 40 girls and ladies on the mat.  Saturday morning started off with a light warm up to get the ladies loosened up then it was off and running. The camp continued with rigorous training and drills as it was also over 100 degrees inside the academy with
the hot Texas heat. There was a lot sparring focusing on specific positions which seemed liked forever as the Captain, Leticia Ribeiro, yelled “ok one more round!” which actually turned into 10 more rounds. The girls and ladies came off the mat with their hair all over the place, cheeks rosy red, their GI’s drenched in sweat and looking physically exhausted. To top it all off, the training ended with a physical challenge with prizes given away for who can do the most Burpees, Wall Squats, Push Ups and who had the fastest Rope Climb.

Later Saturday evening, everyone went back to their hotels or home to get a little rest and get showered up to meet back up at Zio’s Italian Kitchen, just a mile from Alvarez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Arlington TX to have dinner.

Sunday July 1, 2012, was NO GI day for the ladies. Training involved a little upper body take downs, double leg takedowns and drills along with a lot of very technical Guard attacks and submissions. The camp finally wrapped up around 5pm in the evening as all of the ladies said their goodbyes, gave hugs and shared their contact information as everyone made new jiu jitsu friends. It was a great weekend with ladies from all over training, spending time together and getting know each other doing the martial art they love.  All women and young girl jiu jitsu practioners should really find the time and make the effort to attend one of the Leticia Ribeiro’s Women’s Jiu Jitsu Camps as it will dramatically change your game and also help connect to other women and girl jiu jitsu practioners from all over. Big thanks goes out to Triin Seppel and Fenom Kimonos for helping organize the event and big thanks to Leticia Ribeiro, Beatriz Mesquita and Carol Vidal for giving Alvarez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Arlington TX the honor of hosting the event. Alvarez Brazilian Jiu Jitsu looks forward to the 3 World Champions return to Texas and Alvarez BJJ. Next time, they say they look to go dancing cowboy style since Mr. Alvarez, head instructor of Alvarez Jiu Jitsu was able to take them to Cavenders Boot City to buy Cowboy Boots on the way to the airport. Until next time.
