2018 IBJJF Pan Jiu Jitsu Update: Yesterday, March 11, 2018 was the final day for the 2018 Pans. Danielle Alvarez representing Alvarez BJJ out of Arlington TX and Gracie South Bay, took home the Bronze Medal on first shot as a Black Belt. Danielle won her Quarter Final match against a super tough Andressa Cintra from Brazil by a 2-2 Ref Decision. Danielle then got injured in her Semi Final match against Angelica Galvao. Danielle’s left knee bent backwards in the wrong direction off of a sweep attempt by Angelica which caused her knee to pop and could no longer continue. Even though Danielle couldn’t continue, she earned her spot on the medal podium by taking care of business in her quarter final match. We wish Danielle a speedy and healthy recovery as Worlds is just around the corner in June.
On Saturday March 10, 2018, Jessie Crane fighting in the Blue Belt Juvenile 2 Light Weight division won her first two matches by submission then came up short in the Finals by points to take home the Silver. Jessie won her Quarter Final match by Arm Bar against Gabriela Gomez from Ares BJJ, won her Semi Final match by Bow N Arrow Choke against Desiree Gonzalez and then came up short 4-2 against Jessa Khan out of AOJ. We look forward to Jessie coming back stronger and bringing the heat at Worlds in June also.
